From Malibu, Peachfuzz send us that perfect summer single with one sunny popside "Zuma girl" and one surf-instru side "Drainpipes", the whole in a nice pink & orange sleeve. The better single to keep the summer alive when autumn will come... For those who prefer more punchy stuff, I recommand their last album "Fall Down Dreaming".

Peachfuzz de Malibu, avait délivré l'an dernier deux albums powerpop bien torchés. Ce coup ci, ils sortent le parfait single de l'été, une pochette aux couleurs acidulées, surf & beach. En face A un petit bijou de pop ensoleillée "Zuma girl" alors que la face B nous offre un instrumental surf de pur style. Bref c'est léger, sucré et ça remontera le moral de ceux pour qui la plage et les vagues ne sont plus qu'un souvenir de vacances!

Lisa Doll & The R'n'R Romance

Remember this old Fleshtones'song "The Girl From Baltimore"... well, here she is! Her name is Lisa Doll and she's the hidden daughter of Johnny Ramone and Nikki Corvette. With her background band, the R'n'R Romance, she'll soon release her first 4 songs EP on Chucks Records. The first title "Don't Wanna Break up" is the kind of teenage punky-pop tune that you can't get ouf of your mind!!

J'ai trouvé la fille de Baltimore, elle s'appelle Lisa Doll et avec son groupe R'n'R Romance, elle pratique la punky power-pop dans la veine des Ramones ou des Hard-Ons. A venir, un 4titres pour Octobre dont le très bon "Don't wanna Break Up" Les 3 autres titres sont un peu en dessous mais ça mérite le détour!

The Cryptones

Remember The Cryptones on the first volume of the Teen Trash serie? They're still in action with a new single coming soon on Ave The Sound! "Welcome" is a killer song less garage that what they used to do but more in the high energy R'n'R vein reminding The New Christs. It'lle be Out in october and pressed at 500 ex. only.

Cryptones: Beach boys from Toulon...

Les Cryptones font partie de la scène garage française depuis plus de 25 ans déjà... La première fois que j'ai entendu parler d'eux, il y avait encore Jerome et Nat (Greedy Guts). Ce nouveau single, à sortir en octobre,est le premier effort discographique depuis 2007 et le très bon album sixties-rythm'n'blues "Shake! Shake!". Ils nous reviennent bien énervés avec ce "Welcome" qui évoque plus les New Christs ou les Chameleon's Day pour rester par chez nous. Pure High Energy guitar R'n'R!!

D-FILES Melbourne R'n'R Collection

As said on their Bancamp page "The D-Files is a collaborative project combining a hand picked selection of Melbourne's most current and best Rock'n'Roll acts. We have made the compilation free with the intention to help promote the exceptional music coming out of the Melbourne scene." As always, this kind of comp is a good sampler of the local scene where you'll find what you like... As I'm concern, the best tune of the comp is the Midnight Woolf's "take it off" (from their I'll be a dog lp) in the same crampy style than the Yard Apes "Monkey Brains". The Damn Terran are also cool in a more classic australian high energy sound.

Cette compil' n'a d'autre ambition que de nous faire découvrir quelques activistes soniques de la région de Melbourne. Comme souvent dans ce genre de sampler, il y en a pour tous les gouts mais comme elle est en téléchargement libre sur Bandcamp, elle vous permettra de retrouver certains groupes ou d'en découvrir d'autres. Mes préférés Les Midnight Woolf et leur crampesque "Take It Off", les Yard Apes dans le même style ou Damn Terran dans un style plus habituel pour les Antipodes.

Kathy Freeman

Remember those young blond woman looking like a mix of Ron Ashton and Rob Younger on The Birdhouse's Lp, it's Kathy Freeman. She moved to Berlin in 2000 playing in a psychobilly band Kathy X and here is new solo LP, certainly her most personal recording with great songs. Buy it HERE

Dans l'univers du rock, il y a des personnalités qui tracent leur bout de chemin loin de toute médiatisation, avec intégrité et talent, Kathy Freeaman est assurément de celles-ci. Pionnière Punk de la fin des seventies avec les Accelerators de Liverpool puis guitariste dans l'un des meilleurs combos anglais de la fin des eighties (The Birdhouse), elle poursuit aujourd'hui son chemin à Berlin d'où nous parvient ce "Second Skin" dans un répertoire très différent puisqu'il s'agit ici de country, garage, rockabilly, roots blues dans une configuration simplissime (guitare, contrebasse). Ainsi dépouillées de tous artifices, les chansons de Kathy Freeman lui collent à la peau et gagnent en charge émotionnelle comme en témoignent la superbe "Bitch Like You" ou "Second Skin".
