Crusaders of Love

Crusaders Of Love
"Is nothing sacred?" questioned the Lords of the New Church  30 years ago. The Crusaders of Love have kept the faith, their holy trinity: Powerpop, Glam and Rickenbacker! With "Sacred", the boys and girl from Lille, France,  release their best album (although the previous two albums are worth listening). The songs have become more efficient, the production has been enriched with always the same sense of catchy melody. In view of their video, those glitter kids loves the seventies but their powerpop is for today just like their cousins The Cry or the Biters. Crusaders of love took up arms for a European crusade to slay the unbelievers and convert undecided with great riffs and assasin beat. If you cross their road, do not hesitate to join the ranks of the believers! For others, Ghost Highway will soon release Sacred in transparent vinyl or download it on Bandcamp!

"Is nothing sacred ?" s'interrogeaient les Lords of the New Church il y a 30 ans.

The Girls

The Girls

Need some more powerpop sensations ?? Here's the first album of The Girls, in fact 2 girls and 3 guys from Colombus Ohio. Founded in 2011 by guitarist Joey Blackheart from punk band the Gallows, bassist Big Nick and guitarist-singer Jessica Wabbit, the band also includes Ryan Viles and Bent from The Reacharounds and Raeghan Savage as background vocals and glamourous dancing tambourin girl! Jessica Wabbit was member of the family band Carson Drew with her father and sisters (one of them is the alt country singer Lydia Loveless). If you like the Gogo's, Wednesday Week or The Fastbacks, The Girls are for you. Power pop with much power and great female vocals, like the Sugar Stems but a kind of Sugar Stems who met each-others in a bikers'bar, if you see what I mean!! Jessica is a talentuous songwriter, writing songs about ex-boyfriends and broken hearts with great sincerity, songs like "Radio", Annie" or "Mesmerize" get straight into your head and stay there all the day! In a better world, "Keys to Your House" will hit the charts! Music keeps the best of 70's Powerpop, and 60's Beat, and never hesitates to get rougher ("Take your feelings and go"). Definitely, one of the best surprise of 2014!

Mother's Children

Mother's Children

I've already told you about my favorite canadian band in February 2013, but the expected release of their new album imposes a wake-up call. With three albums, Mother's Children dig their furrow in power-pop style like the Cry! but less glam. References are obvious: us  pop of the late seventies (Paul Collins Beat, Sorrows, 20/20 ...), the kind of boys who cover "I like girls" of The Know, post-Blondie Gary Valentine's band! The album, their best to date, respectto the rules of the genre: no time-outs,  Telecaster  riffs, catchy melodies, hooks, nervous solos... The Children's Mother never let down . Of course, we think about Paul Collins or The Boys but the 4 guys are doing it with so much energy and such a pleasure that you'll get yours listening this great album.  "Lemon" is released on yellow vinylin Europe on Taken By Surprise.
